George Orwell’s 1984 is seriously one of the coolest dystopian books out there.
George Orwell’s 1984 is seriously one of the coolest dystopian books out there. I mean seriously if you read this PLEASE let me know @ ( Indi )
In George Orwell's 1984, Winston Smith wrestles with oppression in Oceania, a place where the Party scrutinizes human actions with ever-watchful Big Brother. Defying a ban on individuality, Winston dares to express his thoughts in a diary and pursues a relationship with Julia. These criminal deeds bring Winston into the eye of the opposition, who then must reform the nonconformist. George Orwell's 1984 introduced the watchwords for life without freedom: BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU.
(btw i know the debate is on going and it’s open to interpretation to say if this is a true dystopia or a utopia but oh well)

this is one of those books like The Giver where it's CLEARLY a dystopia but because it's not what we see in dystopian fiction in current pop culture people will always be like "but IS it though?"
ReplyDeleteI remember having to read 1984 for school, I ended up really enjoying it. It was very interesting, I recall reading the ending and just wanting to melt onto the floor.
ReplyDeleteTownsend Big-Eared Bat

I didn't read the book but I was in the play adaptation at my school this past november and like ???? how can anyone not see that as a dystopia

ReplyDeleteTownsend Big-Eared Bat
ReplyDeleteit gets back to the philosophical writer view standpoint of viewing the two societies as essential to each other. saying that utopia cannot exist without aspects and revelations of dystopia in the society as well - it’s complicated 😂
Cømmaηdεя Peggy McGεε-Ꮤιиcнєѕтєя 1984 is literally about soviet russia wym
ReplyDeleteIndi I suppose but that doesn't mean dystopias can't exist as pure dystopias
ReplyDeleteutopias are impossible but everybody knows that
