Fanwarriors!
As of today, we are starting something new - recommendations! :)
Many of you often ask us individually which books/movies/shows we recommend, so we've decided to give some overall recommendations.
Since we are all really busy, we're going to start slow with these recommendations. Unfortunately, that means many of you might have already read/watched the books/movies/shows that we suggest (in which case, good for you!), but if you guys like these recommendations, we can do more, and eventually, I'm sure we'll recommend some fandoms that you aren't part of :) For now, we are planning to post something like this once every one or two weeks.
We're still figuring this out, but maybe we can do some posts during a future #ReviewandDiscussionDay about the fandoms we recommend or feature them in a Fandom of the Week, so new fans can discuss with the older ones. We can also make a few posts so you all can give us suggestions for what we can recommend - we want to have as much variety as possible, but we also want to suggest fandoms that you all would be interested in.
Let us know any suggestions in the comments below. If you're already part of any of these fandoms, feel free to talk about them and/or discuss why everyone should read/watch them (no spoilers please)!

That Nancy Drew movie was horrible. An insult to the name of Nancy! Emma Roberts never even read Nancy, a terrible choice for casting
ReplyDeleteAh! I love Wonder! It's not the kind of book I'd normally read, since I'm more of a fantasy fan, but I read it because it was one of the medical reading competition books this year and it was amazing. I cried.
ReplyDeleteTimeless was really great, too! I hadn't seen that it was renewed for a second season though so thank you for that little tidbit!
ReplyDeleteKyra Wharton Actually, NBC originally canceled Timeless after the first season, but then they took it back and gave Timeless a second season because so many fans were furious about the cancellation. But yeah, I'm super excited for it! :)
ReplyDeleteI've never read Wonder but I've had it recommended before and it sounds pretty good.
ReplyDeleteCømmaηdεя Peggy ℳcGεε™ Hm, I don't think the Nancy Drew movie was that bad.
ReplyDeleteAbby Sitton It's really good! You should read it
ReplyDeleteI remember reading Wonder!! The only thing I disliked about it was the fact that it changed font for each perspective and the sister's boyfriend's font had no capitalization or punctuation and you basically had to guess what's going on. But overall a great book!
ReplyDeleteMy dad watches Timeless and I've seen a few episodes, but not enough to really make sense of it. But with the episodes I have seen, I'm loving it and want to try and watch it all!
I read the Nancy Drew books (yes all 56), but I haven't seen the movie. From what I've heard from other fans it wasn't all that great. The books are awesome though (at least up until the original author does) and if you're looking for a good mystery series I'd really suggest that.
Animorphs, the forgotten fandom. Or maybe Goosebumps. Those and HP were all I read growing up.
ReplyDeleteNever watched the Nancy Drew movie, but I was always more of a Trixie Belden person and I don't feel like seeing Nancy Drew ruined so I probably won't watch it.
ReplyDeleteBriana Bennett Being a lifelong ND fan, it was terrible :p Pamela Sue Martin, the one from the 70s tv show was the best by a long shot
ReplyDeleteNancy Drew Movie is goodbtw! nothing really to do with the books tho.
ReplyDeleteNow I want to read Wonder too, gotta add that to my booklist!!
Fandoms United Nice idea. You should consider making a collection for this
ReplyDeleteCømmaηdεя Peggy ℳcGεε™ Was Pamela Sue Martin the first or second actress to play Nancy in the 70s show? I have read most of the yellow hardcovers, but without out a doubt, I was ALWAYS more of a Hardy Boys person. I still read The Hardy Boys today, and well, they have never had a movie of any kind, good or bad...
ReplyDeleteBriana Bennett the first. The second girl was terrible :p and the Hardy Boys did have a tv show that crossed over with Nancy a few times. It had Parker Stevenson as Frank and Shaun Cassidy as Joe :) They were great as the Hardy Boys, you should take a look at it :)
ReplyDeleteCømmaηdεя Peggy ℳcGεε™ I have (I think) seen all the Hardy Boys episodes from that show. And, it was okay. I like it, but I don't love it. The show basically ignored all the characters from the books except Frank, Joe, and Fenton, and did not invent any good new characters. Also, its preoccupation with weird things like psychics, holograms, and aliens, (this show was from the 70s and it lived up to its decade,) is not found in the source material. Or rather, the books may have occasionally brought up those topics, but none of it ever turned out to be real.
ReplyDeleteI love wonder
