A white cop named Darren Wilson shot an unarmed 18-year old black kid named Michael Brown. All the witnesses are in support of Michael Brown, yet Darren Wilson was not put in jail. Isn't that infuriating? The US law system is in shambles! It doesn't work correctly! It needs reform badly. And you know what? Only us youth can help that. So every single one of you; find a way to help overturn the Ferguson decision. I know we can, because us children are the future citizens of the world. (I've already signed a few petitions and am looking for a protest to go to)

I'm all for this, but do we really know that the case was biased? Is there enough information to prove it?
ReplyDeleteLogan Jackson What?! Why?! I didn't do anything! *looks around and acts paranoid(which she is)*
ReplyDeleteDamian Da Fallen Neko Yeah, I understand. It's never right to kill someone.
I love this page, so I would like it if you guys could please do a little research before posting something like this. :) People have strong opinions on topics and sometimes can let them stray into the facts.
ReplyDeleteMy dad is a cop and I plan on being one myself and the witnesses who actually gave the REAL story and didn't stretch it to heaven and back like the media know that what the cop did was to protect himself and according to the LAW if a threatening force is being used on a cop then fatal force is completely ALLOWED to be used.
ReplyDeleteSorry, just when people get all up and arms about how Michael Brown was completely innocent(which if people actually did research that wasn't just listening to the media they would know this) it infuriates me.
Rant over. Sorry.
Sarah Lauer I know. I don't believe that Brown was completely innocent. I just believe that he didn't have to be killed. There had to be some other way to deal with it.
ReplyDeleteAnd, honestly, I think that Wilson should at least find a way to apologize to Brown's family. Give them money or something.
Angeline Morgan but what people don't get is this police office wasn't that big. Michael brown was a 6'3 giant man(he was 18. Not a boy as people keep referring to him as) and he is coming at this police officer in his car. The cop is in danger of being killed- he can't stop to talk with the man and if he tried to taze him the electricity would have gone straight to the cop as well. There was nothing else he could do when his life is being threatened except defend himself in the only way he could. Yes, it was sad the Michael Brown died- very very sad- but he should not have been attacking a police officer in the first place after commiting the initial crim.
ReplyDeletei think the real problem was the rioters afterwards, they burned stuff down and a bunch of people got hurt in the process and when the gov retaliated
ReplyDeleteI love that you pointed out that so many people die all the time and yet THIS they make a big deal out of and it's all just people saying their not labeling people or being racist but they're gonna be racist anyway. Julia Marie Perkins
ReplyDeleteThanks, that actually means a whole lot. :) Julia Marie Perkins
ReplyDeleteWhen this came up, I spent some time thinking about it-I didn't research it at all, just my mom explained it - I'd like to say the truth, sad as it is, is that here in the US this kind of thing is likely to happen. The only reason it's as issue is the racism aspect. And I think if you just go by what was said in the above post, it is about racism- but aren't you being racist too? Believe it or not, there is racism against white people. Assuming this is purely a racism issue is assuming that a white person who does anything against a black person has to be because of racism is being a little racist, isn't it? I have a friend who's black-not a close friend of mine- but whenever we do something like don't save a seat for him or something ridiculous like that, he calls us racist (jokingly) because the three of us are white. Isn't assuming that anything a white person does against a black is racism racism itself? If he was white, after all, I'd be treating him the same- and I don't mean that in a bad way.
ReplyDeleteUgh we went over this story in class! The cop was being beaten up by the 18 year old and didn't have any other choice but to shoot him to save his own life!!!!! The 18 year old was robbing a store before the cop came and beat the store clerk to a pulp and nearly beat the cop to death if it wasn't for the cops self defense!!!!!!!!!! So there for it was either the cop or the 18 year old!!!!!!!!! and not everyone knew the whole story anyways!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNikhil Shivakumar all I'm saying is, as far as I could tell, the only reason it was such a big deal because of the race part. Putting race aside, I don't know what really happened so I'm not one to say anything.
ReplyDeleteThe issue itself, in this case, is of no consequence. It's everything that has arisen from it that is problematic. The riots across the country are completely and utterly ridiculous. People are destroying property and hurting people because of one out of millions of deaths. More people will die because of these riots than because of issues relating to police officers shooting unarmed people. This whole case has been blown way out of proportion (enough that it is now featured on a fandom page, just saying). Nikhil Shivakumar You say that when you take away the races, you just get a cop shooting an unarmed man. Also, when you take away these races, you get a tiny case that is just another tragedy that only a few people know or care about. When there are millions of other deaths that are MORE UNJUST than this one, why put so much focus on it?
ReplyDeleteIt's just my opinion, probably not at all correct, and overall a badly written, poorly researched argument. Sorry if I offended anyone, no harm meant!!!
Victoria Benefield agreed
ReplyDeleteConcerning what I said- Take it from me- my DAD is a cop. He's been a cop for THIRTY YEARS. And so, are you saying that Darren Wilson should've let himself be killed or fatally injured when the tools to save his own life were right in his gun belt? I rest my case. I'm done arguing with people who's opinions won't be changed, especially when it's over the internet- there's no point in it. Nikhil Shivakumar
ReplyDeleteHey guys, I just want to say my slightly controlversial opinion about Ferguson. I think we should lay off on bashing Officer Wilson. No one will understand what it felt to be in that situation. Police officers are trained to kill. In that situation, Michael Brown may have taken out a gun and threatened his life, or the other way. Either way, something must have happened, and in the heat of the moment, Wilson shot. I'm not saying thats right. I'm just saying its hard in that rush, to think straight. This isn't always about race. Someones skin color isn't going to make that big of a difference in life or death. There were evidence on both sides, but we won't know completely what really happened. All I'm saying is that, don't judge so strong. It doesn't always have to be about races. Nikhil, the protests have been violent in many people, and its making things worse. I'm not sure we should support that.. Lastly, tI haven't researched about the jury, but just keep in mind is that they aren't meant to reflect the mind of the people. They just compare the evidence, and in that situation, its hard to indict Wilson in that particular situation, since it was confusing and Wilson may have had his life threatened. Thats all guys. I know its controversial, please feel free the "debate" with me :)
ReplyDelete*sigh* Really, all I wish is that we knew more about this. My wish is to be a forensic toxicologist when I grow up, and cases like this are just--infuriating. We just don't know the scenario--and the whole case--enough.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Brown was killed in self defense. I really don't know. I just--I wish that he didn't have to be killed.
