Ah, Missy. The mystery of Missy.

Ah, Missy. The mystery of Missy.
What we know about her is that she refers to the Doctor as her "boyfriend," and she brings dead people to a garden like place very similar to the garden in the Girl Who Waited.
Here's my response to all the theories:
Susan Foreman - No. She's his granddaughter. She would never call the Doctor her boyfriend.
The Woman (from End of Time) - Although it was heavily implied that she was the Doctor's mother, she could be Susan, Romana, or the Doctor's original wife. Basically, for as long as who the Woman is is a mystery, we can't say she can be Missy.
Rani - I haven't watched all the classic episodes, but by seeing the descriptions of her, her personality would have to change DRASTICALLY to fit the role of Missy. I personally don't think Missy seems that uncaring. (Also, Steven Moffat said he wouldn't get Rani back in the show)
Romana - Again, her personality would have to RADICALLY change, but I think that Romana being her is a bit more likely than the Rani, as I can see her calling the Doctor "boyfriend" in some far off regeneration. But still...maybe
River Song - HOW. HOW CAN THIS BE RIVER SONG. (I like the theory, but then WHERE IS ALEX KINGSTON?)
The Master - I don't think Missy seems inherently evil...but maybe that's just me. I always have shipped the Doctor and the Master though.
A Totally New Character - Probably the most sensible theory
One of Clara's Echoes - This is by far my favorite theory. What if Clara had an echo that went wrong? And that echo, instead of helping the Doctor directly, got the Doctor and Clara together by being the woman in the shop therefore saving the Doctor? Me likey.
So what do you guys think?

I actually really like that last idea, would be a very clever plot. Ultimately though, I think she's just an entirely new character and compared to the other alternatives, I think it's the best.
ReplyDeleteThere is one more theory.
ReplyDeleteTardis - Moffat said we will see tardis in human form again. He also said there will be more about Clara-tardis relationship. We know from story Zegreus that relationship Doctor-Tardis is very complicated.
I think she may be one of the time lords from the dr's past. The cubes from the Drs' wife ep. maybe. Can't remember the name. The one with the snake tattoo.
ReplyDeleteStephen Doggart What snake tattoo?
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't just bring dead people, but people who died because they trusted the Doctor. They listened to him, accepted what he was saying, and essentially died because of him.
ReplyDeleteIt could be River Song, from when we first met her. Heaven could be the computer simulation that river lives in. Maybe she's found a way to change her appearance. Maybe she's gone mad in there.
Stephen Doggart The Corsair was his name, I always like the sound of him/her
ReplyDeleteI'm still going with the Valeyard. Or an entirely new character. The Valeyard is supposed to be a manifestation of all of the darkest parts of the Doctor sometime after his 12th regeneration. So the timeline fits. Also, she took on a Scottish accent the same time he did, so making her a mirror of the Doctor also makes sense. In the past, the Valeyard also took the Doctor to trial for conduct unbecoming a Time Lord. Collecting people that have died in his name, could be the start of that process.
ReplyDeleteA gate keeper though what to? What's behind the gate? Missy is a projection in everyones future, there has to be a time she has had an encounter with the doctor - did he put her there? Can't wait to find out- have feeling though she'll be in every episode.
ReplyDeleteVladimír Mlečenkov I don't really see the Tardis like that, but I really hope your theory plays out!
ReplyDeleteVASHTI PERSAUD When you hear this story it is not so impossible!

I still like Death, or something powerful that thinks it is Death. Perhaps a Papal Mainframe gone mad.
ReplyDelete"The afterlife of your choice will be notified."
Mik Furie http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Death That would be interesting
ReplyDeleteA wild season 8 plot device appeared!
ReplyDeleteVladimír Mlečenkov Gotta love the Eternals. I think it was mentioned that they fled the Time War somewhere, and Tennant mentioned them as well, so they're definitely canon.
ReplyDeleteMik Furie Eternals are from episode The Enlightment so they are canon.
ReplyDeleteI hope its sexy.
ReplyDeleteThe Terrible Zodan (mentioned in passing in The Five Doctors)
ReplyDeleteIt was confirmed that she is Mary Poppins.
ReplyDeleteTis the Master I bet. Female Master, how horrible
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly believe she is the Doctor's 1st wife. They need to wrap up the situation with his 1st wife and Susan Forman soon.
ReplyDeleteI originally thought it was Clara from some sort of echo. I was pondering this for a while afterwards, then thought, "Clara...the Doctor...'I'm not your boyfriend'...what if it's Clara?" So I think that's either it or she's completely new.
ReplyDeleteBrasil 2016 GAH I DON'T THINK I'VE AGREED WITH ANYONE MORE THAN I AGREE WITH YOU
ReplyDelete~Nikhil the Gryffenclaw Loric
I'm going with her being the Tardis- makes sense that she refers to the Doctor as her boyfriend and being able to absorb people/items into the garden
ReplyDeletePapal Mainframe Lady FTW
ReplyDeleteMy theory is that Clara is rivers daughter, and this is Clara just possibly regenerated.
ReplyDeleteThe bracelet in the picture looks Cyberman style to me. It's incongruous with the rest of the clothing. Maybe a bit of the Doctor "Mr. Clever" got into the Cybermen and created something far more clever; something that would attack the Doctor directly and understand what would hurt him. Turning the people he failed to save into Cybermen for instance?
ReplyDeleteThe woman in the shop who made the ad and gave Clara the TARDIS number...
ReplyDeleteNancyClassicWhoDrew She cant be The Master becuase Master has absolutely different style of talking and behavior
ReplyDeleteBrittnay Cabana or Rose because Rose actually worked in a shop. before you know what.
ReplyDeleteVladimír Mlečenkov but Missy=mistress=master so who knows. It's Moffat we're talking about here
ReplyDeleteNancyClassicWhoDrew Yes but same Moffat told that we will see human tardis again and there was picture small tardis so what if tardis changed her form someway.
ReplyDeleteVladimír Mlečenkov I don't know, how would she be walking around in the last episode with the Cybermen? What I hope for is that she's just a new character; not the Rani, not the Master, not the TARDIS, just a whole new character
ReplyDeleteClara theory:
ReplyDeleteStrax and Vashta called her "Miss" Clara
Missy is short (and I mean stature)
Has an umbrella (reference to Christmas special)
Called Doctor her boyfriend
(This is less obvious) it seemed that some facial expressions and gestures were designed to look just like Clara
Plot wise, she would be an anti-River (saves, then kills instead of kills then saves)
Finally, Clara is said to leave after this season
Vladimír Mlečenkov There was a cube with a snake on it, and the Dr said that this time lord " The Corsaire" always got the same tattoo in every regen, Uncle got his arm. He was also known to be a she from time to time. Confused? I am , and I brought the subject up.
