Have any of you read Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys? It's a comic book written by Gerard Way (former lead singer of My Chemical Romance and author of Umbrella Academy comics) and Shaun Simon, and illustrated by Becky Cloonan (the drawings are INCREDIBLE).
Here's a spoiler-free summary by yours truly (anything I mention is a backstory or happens within the first few pages).
It's about post-apocalyptic California in the year 2019 (it was started around 2010 and published in 2013 so it was farther away then) and a girl who supposedly knows a secret that can take down the company that controls Battery City, a censored and futuristic society where none of the citizens truly feel emotions or know whats happening outside of their homes. Battery City is seemingly the only city left in California, as the rest of the state is a barren wasteland separated into Zones. And that's where the killjoys reside.
Whereas Battery City is a black and white emotionless home, the killjoys bring color and art into the Zones. They fight against Better Living Industries (who operate Battery City) to bring life back to those who have lost it due to the drugs administered to all citizens. A group of four fabulous killjoys come across this girl and protect her until their untimely deaths while they fight BL/Ind. Now, the girl is all alone in the zones (Not counting her cat companions), and wants to prove that she's every bit as dangerous as everyone believed she was.
I'd probably rate this as a 15 year old+ comic, because there's some violence and some suggestive themes. But, if you're into laser guns, fighting, young adult rebels, and Rock 'n' Roll, I think you'll like this comic book just as much as I do.
(Ooh look Taylor finally explained/posted about the last part of her signature. Yes, it's long overdue, but if I was gonna do this I had to do it right ;)
