    I said this years ago. The part of the episode that teased how Sherlock did it, was actually some guy on YouTubes theory. Then a few years later Moffat used it in the episode

    meg shah I think what they meant was that he's dead in a literal sense, however his spirit isn't dead. I think someone else is trying to make it look like he's alive and carry on his legacy.
    That was my interpretation anyway.
