Why do some many people dislike Twilight!?
Please try not to fight about it (people who like Twilight against people who don't)! I know this topic is kinda sensitive, but it's interesting since SO MANY people dislike this fandom for some reason.

Because of it's really out of reality scenario the wrong messages that sends to young girls, the horrible for my taste acting e.t.c.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I have no problem with the fandom i just can't share their interest for the movies or the books.
I'm not against it, I just haven't read it or seen the movies yet because my family (just my family) didn't like it, and I have loads of reading to do already!
ReplyDeleteIts brought monsters into the romance genre where they don't belong, giving the world the wrong idea of vampires. And its not real love (its got all the requirements for an abusive relationship) and real love is not staring or stalking And finally, it sends the wrong message to girls, that they can't do anything to defend themselves and have to depend on their boyfriends
ReplyDeleteI tried to read it once. It was boring, the words didn't flow properly and the description was just wrong, it wasn't like most books when I could picture the scenes and characters it was just dull, and the explanation of things was just completely unimaginative.
ReplyDeleteAnd might make some girls think its ok to I dont know drown themselves because of their boyfriend who dumped them or encourage marriage at 16 or however old she was and the idea that it was alright to watch each other sleep is ok is just wrong
I've read all and seen the movies.. The basic idea is good. A girl falls in love with a vampire.. It's stretched. It takes 3 damn books to kill Victoria!! It's also giving the message that a human is puny, and can't actually do anything. Staring at each other, marriage at 18, all of it is okay, but just acceptable. Coz in the society a girl's gotta be independent first. Its just too far from the reality.
ReplyDeleteThe movie- KRISTEN STEWART WASN'T THE RIGHT ACTRESS!! She has practically NO expressions! Edward was okay.
Overall, it's a good book, terrible movie, which just is very hard to accept.
*not acceptable
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm an over the top potterhead, and so that means I kinda already despise Twilight. But like many people have already said, wrong message, bad writing, horrible plot.
ReplyDeleteVaishali Ravishankar
ReplyDelete:)
You said it.
Although the first book was good, the rest did not have such a strong story. Especially the second one. It would have ended finely in one book.
ReplyDeleteVaishali Ravishankar I know I probably would register as one of those people, I haven't read it. But I would never judge any book by their movies. The reason I'm prejudiced against it is because of their interpretation of vampires. I'm mad at it because its brought vampires into the romance genre, where they don't belong. Vampires are monsters, or at least the cirque du freak version. I have a friend who's actually a fan and she told me about it. I should read it, though, before continuing to dislike it so much, I understand your frusteration
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the books or seen the movies, but I've seen a lot of stuff about it here on google plus. I think a lot of people don't like it because it's mainly centered around the romance, which some people might not like? I personally like romance books, but the vampire/wherewolf thing is why I haven't read them, so that could be another reason. Twihards are also really passionate, which could cause some people to dislike them.
ReplyDeleteI've only read the beginning of the second book (all the copies of the first book were out when I went to the library). I stopped at the part where Bella and Jacob were planning on riding a bike off the cliff. I mean seriously, her immortal boyfriend left her so she decides to kill herself?! I can't read a book where I don't like the protagonist. I did however go and watch the first movie to see if it was any good because it had a huge hype going on at the time. The movie was average. Not something I'd watch again.
ReplyDeleteI think it's because Bella is not a very strong female Prontagist (can't spell sorry) and the whole idea of Vampire/Werewol/Human love is just boring and Predictable I don't mind Twilight but that's just my opinion
ReplyDeleteLahari Ramagiri I agree with your opinions, but what do you mean by a bad message? I can see a lot of different messages in the books that may not be the best, which one are you talking about? :)
ReplyDeleteI personally loved the Twilight series. The part that gets me confused is when other people think Bella did nothing because in fact she did a lot of things. She was a shield that protected her family, a human who saved her boyfriend and his family multiple times.
ReplyDeleteI personally am a fan of it. I have only seen the movies, don't judge that's the only one were I've only seen the movie, because I was too young when they began to come out to read them. I believe the storyline is good, but Twilight has brought many offspring movies and TV shows. Including True Blood or The Vampire Diaries. Also a main reason may be because of Kristen Stewart playing lead. She was not my first choice nor will she ever be. But who knows, really?
ReplyDeleteHonestly speaking, I think people are stretching over the fact that Bella is weak. In Twilight She is just a normal teenager. You can’t expect a girl like that to slay an army of vampires. In fact Meyer’s Vampires are innovative. Not the usual burning in the sun kind. And Bella isn’t weak. She is quite brave. She rushed to save her mother, even if it meant being killed by James. Isn’t that what Katniss did? She volunteered to save her sister, even if it meant that she might die.
ReplyDeleteIn New Moon She took Edward’s absence hard because she loved him unconditionally. She isn’t the first character to do that. You can’t just expect her to move on so quick. I mean he literally broke her. I could give in many from other books who took breakups hard as an example. In the end she saved him from killing himself, despite everything which shows how much she values love.
I do agree that Eclipse was kind of pointless. Just a book where she had to choose between Jacob and Edward. And break the strings that attach her to her human life so that she can accept the life of being a Vampire (Thus the cover)
In Breaking Dawn marrying Edward at 18 was a cover up for her to leave her Human life with a celebration and accept Edward and her Vampire life. She was just an ordinary human before but as a vampire she was strong. That’s what the cover for Breaking Dawn signifies. The pawn is her as a human and the Queen is her as a Vampire. She fought the Volturi to save her daughter and her family. Had she been week, she wouldn’t even have chosen this life at all.
The movies spoilt it of course. Kristen Stewart as Bella is just like Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace. And if you think her relationship with Edward is pedophilia then so are other couples like Magnus and Alec, Elena, Damon and Stefan etc. Gosh after typing this I have a new found respect for Twilight. I'm a Twihard and I'm proud
Okay.. So I read each and every comment, and I think I might have been wrong.. But I still think it's a little stretched..
ReplyDeleteLahari Ramagiri That does make a lot of sense. I guess a lot of people say that Bella was weak, and that does give off some sort of a message. But I think that it's okay to be weak sometimes, it's just that she completely broke down and she should have been stronger. I think that if that would have happened it would be okay.
ReplyDeleteLemme just say that I like vamps the way they were meant to be, and ones who glitters in the sunlight and stares at girls WAYYY younger than them when they sleep are just..... But there are lots of other reasons.
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend john green's video on the subject. Just google it.
